Details

Price: £115/pppw (price depend on when you book it)
Room Type: Ensuite with shared kitchen

Facility
  • Kitchen cleaned fort weekly.

  • Shower Room is private as it is ensuite and the size is very small.

  • Laundry room with 6 washing machine and 6 drying machine. It is relatively small compare to the number of people living in the whole property, during weekend it is specially crowded so you have to make time early in the morning. This is whole property-shared facility.

  • Study room is comfortable but very limited space, good thing is not many people study there due to the lack of daylight. This is property-shared facility.

  • BBQ area which you can book to the reception when you want to use it with some friends. Mini market nearby, 10 min walking distance to nearest Sainsbury’s local.

Distance

15-20 minutes away to the University park, depending on your walking speed. 7 minutes away to the Jubilee campus. You may take the 903 university bus for free which will take you from jubilee campus to university park, but the whole journey starting from riverside point to jubilee exchange stop by foot, then to university park by bus, would take the same amount of time with when you walk from riverside point to university park. Another option is to take the public bus which cost £1 for students to the university park. It will save 5 minutes of your time.

Kitchen Facility

The kitchen is quite old, with the hot tap water and cold tap water separated, so when washing dishes its either too cold or too hot. There are 2 fridges in the kitchen to share with 4 or 5 people depending on the flat you get.

Room

The room is overall satisfying, ¾ bed size, enough for two for when a guest come. Heater is electric type, and is not centralised, therefore you can adjust it to your own need. The whole flat itself has good sound insulation, but when the sound source is from below or above you, it is not as good. You can hear people’s steps from upstairs.
Make sure to choose the room facing away from the rail way, to avoid noise, though the one facing rail way is not as bad (good sound insulation).

When you lose your room card, it will be replaced for free, and the reception service is very good.

Overall

Overall, the living experience is very good, I have lived in Derby hall for a year in 2015, but it was not as satisfying due to the heater system and noise problem, and other disappointing room facilities.
