Newark Hall by Regine Susilo
Review

Newark hall is located in The University of Nottingham’s Jubilee Campus. It is a strategic location as it is nearer to the city centre with frequent bus services and QMC is within walking distance. Jubilee campus is an open and green campus, a great place to enjoy the fresh air.

As it is the largest catered hall in Jubilee, it is twice the size of Southwell Hall and has around 400 residents. A large community means higher diversity hence you can meet friends with people from different countries, this is a chance for you to expand your knowledge. People in Newark are generally friendly, the members of staff are really helpful and efficient and we’ve got wardens for additional support. Lots of activities are going on around Newark organised by different groups and we’ve got our own bar, The Core, with pool table, ping-pong table and a piano! The Core is a nice place to relax and it does not disturb residents as there is a strict closing time which is 11pm on weekdays. The rooms are small but fully furnished with your own bathroom inside. The general colour of the furniture is light brown giving out a fresh and bright feeling.

However, there are downsides of Newark hall or any other catered halls. They are only cleaned every fortnightly hence the room may get a bit dirty and the heater may not be too warm for some. The rooms are quiet close to each other hence loud noises from the room next door or opposite to you might be heard and it may get annoying if it happens in the morning. Another bothersome thing to do is that you need to move out and clear the room just one day after the semester ends, however keeping your things inside the room is possible but the hall charges you extra.

I think Newark Hall was one of the best accommodation choice I have made and I wish to stay here for my 2nd year.
